About Us

We are Christians. We believe in God revealed as Trinity (three in one): Father, Son, and Spirit. We believe in the Bible: the story that changes everything, the true story of God’s love for the world. We hold these essential beliefs in common with all other Christians as they are summed up in the Apostles’ Creed and are confirmed by our own reason and personal experience.

We trace our roots back to a movement started by John and Charles Wesley in the Church of England in the late 1700s. The Wesleys preached about God’s grace, started small groups, and spent time helping the poor. Their movement spread all around the world, with over 12 million members in the United Methodist Church today, including nearly 300 thousand in the Western North Carolina Conference. We are known for our warm hearts, our open minds, and our helping hands. We believe in a deeply personal relationship with God, leave room for different opinions, and put our faith in action by fighting prejudice, poverty, and disease.

Our worship (11 a.m. in the Sanctuary) is traditional but not stuffy, grounded in our Methodist heritage where we gather to worship, listen to God’s Word, respond in faith, and depart with God’s blessing to serve our neighbors. Each worship service includes a  relevant message from the pastor along with a children’s moment and beautiful music from our choir and pipe organ. Occasionally, our hand bell choir or other guest musicians will accent the service with their talents.

A nursery with a pager system is available and we also have activity packets for children to use during church. Holy Communion is served on the first Sunday of the month and everyone is welcome at the Table. Baptisms, weddings, and funerals are scheduled by the pastor. If you’d like to be baptized or become a member of our church family, please talk to the pastor or the minister of discipleship!
